INFORMATION ON TRAVELLING TO THE UNIVERSITY
The University is situated on the outskirts of Coventry and is not in
Warwick which is some 10 or 12 miles away.
How to get here by road.

How to get here by rail.
Go to Coventry railway station which is situated four miles from the
University. You can then either take a taxi or the bus.
By Taxi
There is a large taxi rank at the station. The fare to the University
is approximately
£7. Ask the driver to drop you off in the Central Campus at
Rootes Social Building and Reception. Alternatively, you could ask for
the Students' Union or the Arts Centre.
The drop-off point is the same for all three buildings.
By Bus
A regular bus service runs to the centre of the campus. Ask for
directions at the station to the bus stop situated close by on the
main road towards
Kenilworth. Some buses (West Midlands) require the exact change (70p).
You can use a £1 coin, but will not receive change. Ask the driver to
drop you off at the Central Campus.
Arriving by air at Birmingham International Airport
The airport is approximately 10 miles to the west of the University. You
can either travel to the University by taxi or by a combination of train
and bus.
By Taxi
The journey to the University takes approximately 20 minutes by taxi
(fare approx. £20). Ask the driver to drop you off in the Central Campus at
Rootes Social Building and Reception. Alternatively, you could ask for
the Students' Union or the Arts Centre.
The drop-off point is the same for all three buildings.
By train to Coventry Railway Station
A free courtesy bus will take you from the air terminal to nearby
Birmingham
International Railway Station. There are frequent trains to Coventry.
The fare
is about £1.50. If it is late in the evening you may need to purchase
your ticket from a ticket machine. The machine gives change.
Arriving by air at London Heathrow Airport
There are three main ways to travel to the University.
By bus (recommended method)
There is a bus service to Coventry (Pool Meadow Bus Station, Bay B)
called
Flightlink. It serves all four terminals at Heathrow. The departure
times from
Heathrow Terminal 4 (Coach Station Stops 12 and 13) are 0640, 0740 ...
every hour ... until 2240. From Terminal 3 (Coach Station Bay 5),
departure times are 0655 .... 22.55. For Terminals 1 and 2 go to the
Central Bus Station, departure times are: 7.05, ..., 2305. The journey
takes about 2 hours. When you arrive at Pool Meadow Bus Station, you
can either take a taxi or a bus (please see How to get here by rail
given above).
Coach fares: Single £20, Return £26.
By rail
You should take the London Underground Train from Heathrow to Euston
railway station in London where you can take a train to Coventry. The
underground is very frequent, every 10 or 15 minutes and takes about 1
to 1.5 hours. The trains to Coventry leave approximately every half hour.
The fast train takes about 1.5 hours. Note that it can be difficult to
use the Underground during rush hour, particularly when you have
luggage. Also note that the rail fares vary considerably depending on
conditions of travel, but can be as much as £75 or more. When you
arrive at Coventry you can either take a taxi or a bus (please see How
to get here by rail given above).
Car rental
One-way will cost about £75 plus fuel. Daily rates should be about £30
plus fuel. If there is more than one person in your party, this could
well be the easiest and cheapest way to travel here. The journey is
straightforward. It is motorway almost all the way. You first take the
M25 north, then the M40 (north west towards Oxford and Birmingham), exit
at Junction 15 and follow the A46 towards Coventry, until the exit
signposted University of Warwick, A429. Turn left and follow signs to

Arriving by air at London Gatwick Airport
Gatwick is more distant than Heathrow from the University There are
three main ways to travel to the University.
By bus (recommended method)
There is a bus service to Coventry (Pool Meadow Bus Station, Bay B)
called
Flightlink. The departure times from Gatwick Airport South Terminal
Coach
Station are 0545, 0745 , 0945, 1145, 1345, 1445, 1545, 1745, 1945, 2045.
The
departure times from Gatwick Airport North Terminal, Ground Level, Stop 3
are usually 5 minutes after those for South Terminal. Please note that
these are the times for Saturday and Sunday. Some of the weekday departure
times
may be 15 or 30 minutes earlier The journey takes 3 to 4 hours. When
you arrive at Pool Meadow Bus Station, you can either take a taxi or a bus
(please see How to get here by rail given above).
Coach fares: Single £24, Return £30.
By rail
You should take the railway from Gatwick to Victoria Station London, then
take the London Underground Train from Victoria to Euston railway
station in London where you can take a train to Coventry.. The trains
to Coventry leave approximately every half hour. The fast train takes
about 1.5 hours from Euston, but the total journey time from Gatwick will
be closer to 3 to 4 hours. Note that it can be difficult to use the
Underground during rush hour, particularly when you have luggage. The
alternative is to take a taxi from Victoria to Euston at a cost of
about £10. Also note that the rail fares vary considerably depending on
conditions of travel, but could be as much as £100. When you arrive at
Coventry you can either take a taxi or a bus (please see How to get here
by rail given above).

LOCATION INFORMATION ON THE
UNIVERSITY CAMPUS
On arrival at the Central Campus, go to Rootes Reception (29 on map).
This is where you check in for your accommodation. The Symposium will
be held in the Physics Lecture Theatre located in the Science Building
(25 on map). To find the Science Building follow the orange signs from
Rootes Reception. You will enter the Science Building from a bridge
across the Library Road. Keep going down the wide concourse and you
will shortly see the Symposium Registration Desk. A map of the campus is
