On the Trip - 28 Dec Onwards

04 Jan: Khenifra. Not sure Mecca is in that direction actually Alex...and you're not a Muslim. Worth a try though.

03 Jan: The Ruins at Volubilis. And as well as the ambulance, there are some Roman remains.

01 Jan: Ferreeeeee.... cross the Straits of Gibraltar... hmmm, doesn't quite work, does it.

30 Dec: First running repairs to Ambulance in Bayonne, France. I am assured that the beans were removed from the tin beforehand...

28 Dec: The ambulance in Oxford packed to the gunwales. Not shown: cameras for African version of 'Casualty: The Movie'.

    Ringwood School 11 Dec 06

Chris and XT Cold visit Ringwood School

Chris Edwards, Head of Ringwood School, explains about the drive and takes the opportunity to demonstrate her ninja hand-speed and deadly umbrella technique. Not to be trifled with...

Ringwood's finest start to sign ice cold. The Land Rover gag is not funny.

Bakalarr School: New Buildings financed by Pageant and last year's PBC-ers

From Pippa at Pageant: " I am attaching a few photos of the Pageant building which was partly financed by the last rally (Super Trooper), and which we officially opened in October. A very nice block of 3 classrooms and a staffroom (the latter sorely needed as the 38 teachers have had nowhere to sit at all until now, only out in the playground) I left Bakary some money for furnishing at least part of the building, so you should see it being well used by the time you arrive in January. Bakary is the man talking to me in pic CNV00007" - a real example of how your pledge can help educate kids in the Gambia.

    Abingdon 4x4 Festival Sept 2006

An event with its own website...

Illustrating the importance of punctuation, "Chris, I said 'strip paint' not 'strip; paint'", despaired Alex.

Russell makes final preparations for his puppet show.

Now the jeep had been 'tagged', it blended into the urban environment

Keep your hands on the wheel: A Very Nice Man.

Classy place, Abingdon: the local kids correct Chris' spelling (yes, I can think of at least 5 better captions, but you never know who's logging in...)

    Plymouth-Banjul 07 Launch Party

A very serious and august gathering to hear from the Oracle Julian exactly how to get to Banjul...

Our intrepid explorers in deepest Deb'm, luvvers

The models draped suggestively over the vehicles were a little faded. As were the vehicles...

In the company of friends, Alex removed the makeup from his forehead wart, while Chris re-read the instructions for care of his new body more carefully.

Ambassador, with these cow byres, bottles of Kronenburg and hyper-active bug zapper you are spoiling us... The Rod Hull impersonator on the left was disappointing, however.

    Milton June 2006

The first of the fund-raising jollies

The Morris dancers: sadly, no Suzuki dancers

    Russell loitering within tent

Local fluctuations in the gravitational field in Milton required that Alex and Russell weigh down the jeep at all times

Joe smiles knowingly at the welly wangers' puny efforts and mentally rehearses her special 'Galoshes Grip' technique

I bet I can make you turn your hands over...put your hands out... no, the other way...

Chris cruelly mocks Alex's developing Grant Mitchell impression: "He doesn't stand like that! Hahahaha!"

Chris stares longingly at the shoes of the villagers. How he wishes he could wear such dainty pumps...

I wouldn't leave that here guv, it could get nicked. 'Course, for a tenner I *might* be able to keep an eye on it...
